Lanonia poilanei is a small fan palm of the hill rainforest of Khánh Hòa province in southern Vietnam, on the eastern slopes of the Đà Lạt plateau. Named only in 2017, it is a slender palm up to about 2 m tall, with one or several stems and long-stalked leaves around 55 cm across, cut into some twenty narrow segments.

Small, smooth red fruits follow the flowers. A recent introduction through the specialist seed trade, it is still very new to cultivation.
